Riktig vetenskap och dåliga imitationer
by Olle Häggström
Riktig vetenskap och dåliga imitationer (Real Science and Poor Imitations) is a fiery text defending science and the ideas of the Enlightment. The book attacks falsehoods masquerading as real science. The writer has collected approximately 30 of his own texts discussing popular science and social debate. They are divided into seven chapters: School, Matemathics, Evolution, God, Pseudoscience, the Brain and the Future. Questionable pedagogy and Intelligent Design are criticized, and the writer also has important opinions about gender research and the environment.
Olle Häggström (1967) is a professor in Mathematical Statistics at the Swedish university Chalmers. He is a member of the Swedish Science Academy, and former President of the Swedish Mathematicians' Union. He has been granted numerous prizes, both national and international, for his research on probability theories. He is also author of the book "Slumpens skördar: strövtåg i sannolikhetsteorin".
