Edens Bakgård by PC Jersild

Edens bakgård

by P C Jersild

About the book:

The homeless man Roland Rajamäki is offered a job as a nighttime security guard at an office where strange things begin to happen. The company lures customers to its “experiential centre” with three-dimensional simulations of space voyages and safaris as well as pedophilia and sexual murders. An economic recession spurs the company to come up with a new and revolutionary idea: the company is reconstructed as a church, using the same virtual reality technology to offer customers salvation, trips to heaven or journeys into hell under the guise of freedom of religious belief.

Edens bakgård is a typical Jersild novel combining realism and fantasy. It is also an exploration of the human mind, written with a cynical yet jovial sense of humour.
